WHAT IS RADIATION THERAPY?
Radiation Therapy is utilized to target specific areas of cancer cell concentration in the body. X-Ray waves or Radio waves are used to either destroy or fatally damage the cancerous cells in that location. Radiation is often used in combination with other therapies such as Chemotherapy.
Two Forms of Radiation Therapy
♦ Brachytherapy is an internal Radiation Therapy.
A radioactive device is implanted near the cancerous growth.
♦ External Beam Radiation is an external Radiation Therapy.
External Beam Therapy is often administered several days in a row for several weeks in a row.
