TYPE 9      THE MEDIATOR

Nines tend to be easy going and seek unity. They have a strong tendency to avoid conflict whenever possible. As a result Nines often idealize relationships and minimize any behaviors that could generate controversy. Nines are typically the less assertive party in relationships. They tend to uphold the agenda of others even if it is in conflict with their true desires. At times, Nines may agree to the requests of others even when they have no intention of following through. This behavior is not meant to be malicious. It is the Nines way of avoiding conflict while honoring themselves. It is also exemplary of the Nine's tendency toward passive-aggressive actions and reactions. Sometimes Nines will lose focus when under pressure and divert their attention to inconsequential tasks as an escape.

TRIAD
One's, Eight's and Nine's comprise the Instinctive Triad. The strengths and challenges of these types are related to their ability to navigate and balance their innate, or instinctive energy.  Nine’s attempt to avoid any negative energy by repressing it in favor of accommodating their environment.  If nine’s are able to recognize this energy, it is often relieved by a passive-aggressive means.

WINGS
Those who are influenced by a stronger Eight wing can be more outgoing and assertive.  They can have an antiauthoritarian streak.  9w8’s can be complacent yet competitive.

Those who are influenced by a stronger One wing tend to be more cerebral and emotionally controlled than 9w8’s.  Also more orderly, critical, compliant and emotionally controlled.

DISINTEGRATION POINT (stress point)
Under stress, Eights may begin to display aspects of low side of Type 6.  This may be represented in a tendency to become more reserved, fearful, doubtful and suspicious when under stress.  May fall into routines as a means of controlling their world.

INTEGRATION POINT (security point)
When Eights are feeling more secure they may begin to display aspects of the high side of Type 3.  They become more direct, focused and efficient.   They are more apt to develop themselves and their interests.
