TYPE 8      THE CHALLENGER

Eights feel most comfortable when situations are under control, and they are likely to be the person maintaining and ensuring the control. Eights generally respect others who are just and effective in their position of leadership. On the other hand, Eights quickly lose patience with those who are ineffective or abuse in their position of power. Eights seek and promote justice. When they sense injustice they will do everything within their power to redress the situation. While it may not be evident to most, Eights have a vulnerable, softer side which they keep hidden in most relationships. Eights typically do not realize how intimidating they can be, nor do they intend to intimidate others.

TRIAD
One's, Eight's and Nine's comprise the Instinctive Triad. The strengths and challenges of these types are related to their ability to navigate and balance their innate, or instinctive energy.  Eights are over-identified with their energy in that they feel and express it in excess.  They can be compulsive in their interpretation and responses.

WINGS
Those who are influenced by a stronger Seven wing can be more extroverted, enterprising and energetic than 8w9’s.  They are quick minded and practical.

Those who are influenced by a stronger Nine wing tend to be more mild-mannered, receptive and domestic than 8w7’s.  They may display conflict in their behaviors in different environments; tough at work and gentle at home.

DISINTEGRATION POINT (stress point)
Under stress, Eights may begin to display aspects of low side of Type 5.  This may be represented in a tendency to withdraw when stressed.  They also become more detached and observant.

INTEGRATION POINT (security point)
When Eights are feeling more secure they may begin to display aspects of the high side of Type 2.  They begin to identify more strongly with others and become more nurturing.  They display a more generous, helpful and charming side of their personality.
