TYPE 5      THE INVESTIGATOR

Fives are knowledge seekers and horders. It is not uncommon for a Five to have an extensive library including many books, articles and DVD's in topic areas which interest them. Fives are usually quite private, and external demands have a tendency to bring them stress and discomfort. Fives pride themselves on being trustworthy and expect the same respect from confidants. Fives may detach from their feelings in the moment and relive them later in privacy where they feel more comfortable and are better able to sort things out. Fives also have a propensity toward compartmentalization.

TRIAD
Five’s, Six’s and Seven’s comprise the Thinking Triad. The strengths and challenges of these types are related to their ability to identify, understand and navigate their fears.  On an unconscious level, they all have a tendency to unconsciously anticipate dangers and react to them from a position of fear.  The fears of Five’s are most prominent socially.  They are protective of their independence and fear being overwhelmed or engulfed by others.

WINGS
Those who are influenced by a stronger Four wing can be more creative, humanistic and synthetic in thinking than 5w6.  5w4’s tend to be sensitive, insightful, empathic, and at times self-absorbed.

Those who are influenced by a stronger Six wing tend to be more anxious, skeptical and cautious than 5w4’s.  Highly intellectual and organizes/converts information efficiently.  Can be rebellious and argumentative.  5w6 is a more common subtype than 5w4.

DISINTEGRATION POINT (stress point)
Under stress, Five's may begin to display aspects of low side of Type 7.  This may be represented in impractical and indulgent behaviors.  They may develop a sort of mental hysteria, a restlessness of their mind.  They may also become significantly more verbose, and possibly argumentative in social situations.

INTEGRATION POINT (security point)
When Five’s are feeling more secure they may begin to display aspects of the high side of Type 8.  They become more confident and engaged.  They take calculated risks with the understanding that sometimes there is no way to gather ALL the information possible before acting.  They follow through and embrace a willingness to stand strong to get things done.
