A NOTE FROM LISA

I found the following article on the emofree.com website sponsored by Gary Craig, the founder and creator of EFT. He has been gracious enough to allow the reprint of this article here.

I believe mindfulness is the key to significant growth. Daily EFT reviews are a wonderful means of mindfulness. Thanks so much to the author, Patricia Carrington, PhD. for sharing this practice. -lisa m watson

What Is An EFT Review and What Can It Do For You?
By Patricia Carrington PhD, EFT Master

I’m always seeking ways to maximize the effects of EFT.  I believe that as yet we have only tapped the surface as far as this method’s applications are concerned.  One of the ways to multiply the power of EFT impressively is to conduct an EFT Review at the end of the day.  I have mentioned this in passing before, but here I’m going to tell you how to do it.

On most days, many incidents occur that are frustrating but which we don't recognize at the time as particularly disturbing.  Although they may slip by unnoticed, they can take a heavy toll by causing a residual buildup of stress.  Fortunately, there is a way to counteract this problem -- by conducting an "EFT Review" at the end of the day.

To do this, set aside a block of time, preferably as close as possible to the same hour each day.  This is to be devoted specifically to your EFT Review.  Some people prefer to schedule their Review just before retiring, but you may like to conduct yours on your way home from work or at some other convenient time.  Experiment, select the time that works efficiently for you, and then stick to it.

To do your EFT review, sit quietly in a place where you're not likely to be interrupted, and allow your thoughts to roam over the days events.  The aim is to catch, as you as you would in a net, those things which are still unresolved in your mind, the unfinished business of the day -- and to use EFT for each unresolved event as it comes up.  Which events of the day still arouse resentment in you?  Which make you anxious?  Which are depressing?

You don't need to be systematic.  Just relax and let your thoughts roam.  Our minds seem to want to deal with our tensions if we just give them time in which to do so.  You will discover that one unresolved incident after another may surface during this quiet time.  Some of these you may not even have perceived as being troublesome at the time they occurred.  These are the subliminal irritations of the day.

As these leftover problems make themselves known, tap on each of them in turn:
“Even though I could have handled that situation better, I deeply and completely accept myself
"Even though I’m nervous about tomorrow’s interview, I choose to be calm and confident and handle it beautifully."

“Even though they seem disappointed in me, I deeply and completely accept myself.",
"Even though I made that mistake, I thank myself for the effort I put into that job."
And so on, and on.

The types of issues that come up during an EFT Review may seem trivial at times, but in fact nothing is trivial that occurs in your day.  There is something be learned in every experience we have, and there is no end to the improvement we can make in the way we feel about ourselves as we go through the often arduous task of simply living our life.

An EFT Review inevitably brings up very small issues as well as large ones and has the advantage of focusing not only on the dramatic events in our lives, but on the commonplace ones as well.  For this reason it can have a profound influence on the way we typically handle our days.  When you have neutralized your previous day’s issues by tapping on the various incidents which still remain in your mind at the end of the day, the next day you may feel decidedly better, more self accepting and more constructive than before.

To continue with the EFT Review –– during that Review, as each leftover problem of the day makes itself known to you, use EFT on each of them until you have reached a point where your stress level has come way down.  If it has, then let your mind go into idling gear once more.  If further troublesome incidents come to mind, tap on them next, or if there is not enough time to do that, write these incidents down in your EFT Journal or notebook for future use.

Some people like to carry an EFT notebook or an index card during the day to jot down events they would like to use EFT on later when they time to do so.  Then they handle these issues during the EFT Review.  Whichever method you use -- the EFT notes or simply allowing your free flow of thoughts to bring the incidents up again -- your EFT Review can be an important addition to your life.  It can provide some of the same intrinsic satisfaction as cleaning up a desk piled high with papers.  After the Review, you are ready to move on to new things in your life.  Clients to whom I have taught this technique often say that the EFT Review is one of the most valuable experiences of their day.
